Edie Sustainable Supply Chains Summit 2025
Navigating disruption and unlocking value
At Wylde Connections we are committed to continually evolving our solutions to address business pain points. Attending the edie Sustainable Supply Chains Summit 2025 gave us the perfect opportunity to discuss the barriers to embedding best practice. The event offers a unique opportunity to gain expert-led insights through thought leadership and industry panels featuring top professionals in sustainability, supply chain, and procurement. With a strong focus on Scope 3 emissions, supplier engagement and circular economy strategies, the event provided invaluable insight. It also highlighted the importance of the work Wylde Connections is doing to help business understand their impacts. From value chain mapping and Environmental, Social, and Governance (ESG) diagnostics to supplier engagement and training, our service ecosystem is driving transformation.
The summit opened with a leadership panel exploring how businesses can move from risk to resilience by integrating sustainability into their supply chain strategies. Discussion points included overcoming key risks facing businesses in the year ahead, building data driven approaches to non-financial reporting, and implementing climate adaptation. Panellists from Specsavers, Sanctuary, Zurich Resilience Solutions, and 7 Steel UK examined how supply chains can unlock hidden value while managing growing pressures.
Nature and biodiversity featured prominently throughout the morning sessions. Delegates heard how nature positive strategies can build resilience into supply chains and address both carbon emissions and broader environmental impacts. Riverford Organic Farmers showcased the role of nature-based solutions in supporting biodiversity while reducing supply chain risks. Hilton Foods also shared perspectives on incentivising suppliers to adopt sustainable practices using the TNFD (Taskforce for Nature Related Financial Disclosure) framework.
The Dragons’ Den session gave innovation partners the chance to present emerging tools and services to support sustainability in supply chains, from data solutions to circular economy models. Interactive workshops then provided delegates with the opportunity to explore Scope 3 emissions in detail. Organisations earlier in their journey focused on how to map their supply chains, identify emissions hotspots, and calculate baselines, while those further advanced concentrated on supplier engagement, incentivisation strategies, and transparent reporting.
Why sustainable supply chains matter
The summit reinforced what we are seeing in the business community as a trusted partner for SMEs and corporates alike. Sustainable supply chains are now a business imperative. They integrate environmental, social, and governance considerations into every stage, from raw material sourcing and logistics to product use and end of life. They are designed to secure compliance and manage impacts, be it reducing greenhouse gas emissions, limiting waste, protecting biodiversity, or ensuring responsible labour practices.
There are three main drivers shaping this shift, starting with regulatory compliance. Frameworks such as Streamlined Energy and Carbon Reporting (SECR), Corporate Sustainability Reporting Directive (CSRD), and Task Force for Climate-related Financial Disclosure (TCFD) are tightening requirements for disclosure, particularly on Scope 3 emissions. Second is stakeholder expectation. Investors and customers alike are demanding evidence of ethical sourcing and ESG performance. Third is operational resilience. Sustainable supply chains reduce risk, deliver efficiencies, and create long term value by minimising disruption and resource scarcity.
For corporates, the ability to collect, analyse, and act on supplier data is now a core differentiator. For SMEs, providing ESG evidence is increasingly a condition of securing or retaining contracts. Both groups face challenges in navigating the complexity of frameworks and requirements, and both need support to build the systems and skills required to meet expectations.
